About
Chaplain Jen: Innovator of programs for healing.

My work is rooted at the intersection of the arts and healing. I am an artist, an author, a poet, a healer, and a board-certified, Interfaith hospital chaplain. My passion is guiding others to weave the rhythms of nature together with threads of imagination, symbol, and metaphor to broaden perspectives and facilitate lasting change.
About: When I returned to college after having four kids to study graphic design and illustration, I heard the whispers of what would become a calling; whispers that prompted me to dive into a broad education of spirit. Following what one might consider divine guidance, I trained extensively in energy healing, and became a certified hypnotherapist. I studied spirit releasement and past-life regression before entering The Chaplaincy Institute, an Interfaith seminary, where I received an extraordinary education in world religions and the arts before I was ordained in 2016. After two years in hospice, I entered into a second tour of seminary at Earlham School of Religion. This enrollment allowed me to take a job as a hospital chaplain. As I pondered how to care for the healthcare heroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I discovered, by chance, that the activities I developed for hospital staff care were the very same type of activities the Shay Moral Injury Center had researched and developed for veterans returning from war with moral injury. Art, poetry, nature, mindfulness, and play are ingredients for healing and are present in all of my work.
